Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 In a high Garden 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 Goblets set, 14 cushions ranged, 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
Almighty Allah's Truth.
