The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
