The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 The reward for what they did. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruits numberless, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And raised couches. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
