The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
