Nay, verily: By the Moon, 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 and the morn when it dawns! 34 Verily, that [hell-fire] is Indeed one of the great [forewarnings] 35 a warning to humans, 36 To him among you who wishes to go forward or remain behind. 37 Every soul will be a pledge for that which it hath earned, 38 Except the Companions of the Right Hand. 39 [Who will be] in gardens, questioning each other 40 Concerning the guilty: 41 'What caused you to be thrust into the Scorching (Fire)' 42 They will say: we have not been of those who prayed. 43 Nor did we used to feed the poor. 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 until the Inevitable End [death] overtook us." 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 Why then do they turn away from the admonition 49 As though they were frightened asses 50 fleeing before a lion? 51 Nay, but everyone of them desireth that he should be given open pages (from Allah). 52 This will certainly never be the case! In fact, they are not afraid of the Day of Judgment. 53 Yes indeed, this is an advice. 54 So, whoever wills may benefit from it. 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
