Therefore, remind. By the Favor of Allah, you are neither a soothsayer, nor mad. 29 Or do they say: A poet, we wait for him the evil accidents of time. 30 Proclaim, “Go on waiting – I too am waiting along with you.” 31 Is it their minds that bid them [to take] this [attitude] - or are they [simply] people filled with overweening arrogance? 32 Do they say: 'He has invented it' No, they do not believe. 33 So let them bring a discourse like it, if they are truthful 34 Or were they created without there being anything, or are they the creators? 35 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay! they have no certainty. 36 Or have they the depositories [containing the provision] of your Lord? Or are they the controllers [of them]? 37 Or have they the means by which they listen? Then let their listener bring a clear authority. 38 Or has He daughters, and they sons? 39 Do you (Muhammad) ask them for any payment (for your preaching) which they cannot afford? 40 Or [do they think] that the hidden reality [of all that exists] is almost within their grasp, so that [in time] they can write it down? 41 Or do they want to stage a deception? -- Then only those who do not believe will be the ones who will be tricked. 42 Do they have another god besides God? God is too exalted to be considered equal to the idols. 43 And if they should see a fragment of the heaven falling down, they would say: it is only clouds piled up. 44 Then let them be (O Muhammad), till they meet their day, in which they will be thunder-stricken, 45 and when their evil plans will be of no benefit to them nor will they be helped. 46 And verily, for those who do wrong, there is another punishment besides this: But most of them understand not. 47 Await the judgement of your Lord, for you are always before Our eyes, and glorify your Lord with praises when you rise, 48 And glorify Him in the night and when the stars begin to wane. 49
