Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
WE SENT NOAH to his people to warn them before the painful punishment came upon them. 1 He said: O my people! verily I am unto you a warner manifest. 2 That you should serve Allah and be careful of (your duty to) Him and obey me: 3 so that He may forgive you some of your sins, and grant you respite until a term known [to Him alone]: but, behold, when the term appointed by God does come, it can never be put back - if you but knew it!" 4 He said: O my Lord! surely I have called my people by night and by day! 5 but it has had no effect on them except to make them run away. 6 “And whenever I called them, so that You may forgive them, they always thrust their fingers into their ears, and covered themselves with their clothes, and remained stubborn and were extremely haughty.” 7 Then I invited them publicly. 8 “Then I also told them publicly and also spoke to them softly in private.” 9 and I said: "'Ask your Sustainer to forgive you your sins - for, verily, He is all-forgiving! 10 He will send you abundant rain from the sky, 11 ‘And will aid you with wealth and sons, and will create gardens for you and cause rivers to flow for you.’ 12 "'What is amiss with you that you cannot look forward to God's majesty, 13 While He has created you in stages? 14 Have you not regarded how God created seven heavens one upon another, 15 setting in them the moon as a light and the sun as a lantern? 16 God produced you from the earth like a vegetable growth; 17 He will then return you back to it, and bring you out again. 18 And Allah hath made the earth a wide expanse for you 19 That you may go about therein in broad roads. 20
