The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I swear by the Mountain, 1 By a Decree inscribed 2 in a parchment unrolled, 3 And the House (Kaaba) that is visited, 4 by the elevated canopy; 5 And the swollen sea 6 Verily, the Torment of your Lord will surely come to pass, 7 Of it there is no preventer. 8 [It will come to pass] on the Day when the skies will be convulsed in [a great] convulsion, 9 and the mountains move, moving. 10 On that Day woe to those who belied 11 Who are playing in falsehood. 12 The Day when they will be pushed down by force to the Fire of Hell, with a horrible, forceful pushing. 13 "This is the fire which you were wont to call a lie! 14 Is this magic or do you not see? 15 Endure the heat thereof, and whether ye are patient of it or impatient of it is all one for you. Ye are only being paid for what ye used to do. 16 Indeed the pious are in Gardens and peace. 17 rejoicing in all their Lord has given them, and their Lord will guard them against the punishment of Hell. 18 (And it is said unto them): Eat and drink in health (as a reward) for what ye used to do, 19 Reclining upon couches ranged in rows; and We shall espouse them to wide-eyed houris. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 And We shall bestow on them fruit and meat in abundance - whatever they may desire: 22 They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin. 23 ۞ Youths as fair as hidden pearls will be set apart to wait upon them; they will be running to and fro to serve them. 24 They will turn to one another ask questions, 25 saying, "We were afraid while in the world. 26 "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind. 27 Formerly we had always prayed to Him. Surely He is Most Benign, Most Compassionate.” 28
