Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 In an elevated garden, 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 Goblets set, 14 and arranged cushions 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
