He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 And he feareth 9 You neglect. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 lofty and pure, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 olives, dates, 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
