The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
