The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
