When the Messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 he said: "Behold, you are people unknown [here]!" 62 They said, “In fact we have brought to you the matter which these people doubted.” 63 and we have come to you with the truth, and surely we are truthful, 64 "So leave with your family late in the night, yourself remaining in the rear, and let none turn back to look, and go where you will be commanded." 65 And We decreed for him that commandment, that the last remnant of those should be cut off in the morning. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. 67 He said: Lo! they are my guests. Affront me not! 68 but be conscious of God and disgrace me not!" 69 They said; Have we not forbidden you from (entertaining) anyone? 70 [Lout (Lot)] said: "These (the girls of the nation) are my daughters (to marry lawfully), if you must act (so)." 71 By your life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement. 72 An explosion struck them at sunrise. 73 And We turned (the towns of Sodom in Palestine) upside down and rained down on them stones of baked clay. 74 In this there is evidence (of the Truth) for the prudent ones. 75 And surely it is on a road that still abides. 76 surely in this there is a sign for those who believe. 77 AND THE DWELLERS of the wooded dales [of Madyan, too,] were inveterate evildoers, 78 We afflicted them with punishment. Both people had clear (divine) authority among them. 79
