And (remember) when Ibrahim (Abraham) said to his father and his people: "Verily, I am innocent of what you worship, 26 Other than Him who created me. He will show me the right way." 27 And Ibrahim kept this declaration among his progeny, in order that they may desist. 28 Yes, I gave the good things of this life to these [men] and their fathers, until the truth came to them, and a messenger expounding things clearly, 29 And now that the Truth hath come unto them they say: This is mere magic, and lo! we are disbelievers therein. 30 They also said: 'Why was this Koran not sent down to a great man from the two Villages' 31 Is it they who apportion the mercy of your Lord? It is We who distribute among them their livelihood in the life of this world, and raise some of them above others in rank, so that they may take one another into service; and the mercy of your Lord is better than [the wealth] which they amass. 32 And were it not that mankind would have become one community, We might well have appointed, for those who disbelieve in the Beneficent, roofs of silver for their houses and stairs (of silver) whereby to mount, 33 And for their houses, doors (of silver), and thrones (of silver) on which they could recline, 34 or that they be made of gold. Surely all this is only the enjoyment of the life of the world. But (true prosperity) in the Hereafter with Your Lord is only for the God-fearing. 35
