The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 created Man of a blood-clot. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. 4 The One Who taught man all what he did not know. 5 Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel 6 because he thinks himself self-sufficient: 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 Or enjoineth piety? 12 What do you think? Have you seen if he belies and turns away, 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then let him call upon his henchmen! 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
