The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 there is no denying its coming 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruit of what they select 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 And spreading shade, 30 near to flowing water 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
