He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 To him you give attention. 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 And he fears, 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 May man be slain - how ungrateful he is! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
