The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 And when the stars fall, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
