The Sun (Al-Shams)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the sun and its heat and brightness, 1 and by the moon as it follows it; 2 and by the day when it displays him 3 The night when it covers him over, 4 And by oath of the heaven and by oath of Him Who made it. 5 By the earth and Him Who spread it forth, 6 And the soul and Him Who made it perfect, 7 And given the faculty of knowing what is disruptive and what is intrinsic to it. 8 those who purify their souls will certainly have everlasting happiness 9 and failed is he who buried it! 10 Samood gave the lie (to the truth) in their inordinacy, 11 when the most wicked of them broke forth, 12 But the Messenger of Allah [Salih (Saleh)] said to them: "Be cautious! Fear the evil end. That is the she-camel of Allah! (Do not harm it) and bar it not from having its drink!" 13 But they called him a liar and slaughtered her, therefore their Lord crushed them for their sin and levelled them (with the ground). 14 And He does not fear its coming behind (to take vengeance). 15
