And certainly We created man of clay that gives forth sound, of black mud fashioned in shape. 26 And the jinn did We create aforetime of essential fire. 27 When your Lord said to the angels, "I will create the human being out of pure mud-moulded clay. 28 And when I have proportioned him and breathed into him of My [created] soul, then fall down to him in prostration." 29 All the angels prostrated themselves, 30 except Iblis; he refused to join those who prostrated. 31 God asked Iblis, "What made you not join the others in prostration?" 32 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "I am not the one to prostrate myself to a human being, whom You created from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud." 33 (Allah) said: "Then, get out from here, for verily, you are Rajim (an outcast or a cursed one)." [Tafsir At-Tabari] 34 and the curse shall be on you till the Day of Judgement!" 35 He said, “My Lord! Grant me respite till the day when they will all be raised.” 36 Allah said: verily then thou art of the respited: 37 “Till the Day of a well-known time.” 38 He said, "My Lord, since You have let me go astray. I shall make the path of error seem alluring to them on the earth and shall mislead them all, 39 "Except Your chosen, (guided) slaves among them." 40 God said, "This is the path which leads straight to Me. 41 over My servants thou shalt have no authority, except those that follow thee, 42 And indeed hell is the promise for all of them. 43 To it are seven gates: for each of those gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned. 44
