At length when the messengers arrived among the adherents of Lut, 61 He said, "Indeed, you are people unknown." 62 They said: Nay, but we bring thee that concerning which they keep disputing, 63 and we are bringing thee the certainty [of its fulfilment]: for, behold, we are speaking the truth indeed. 64 "Then travel in a part of the night with your family, and you go behind them in the rear, and let no one amongst you look back, but go on to where you are ordered." 65 We issued this command to him, for they were going to be destroyed in the morning. 66 And there came the people of the city rejoicing 67 He said: 'These are my guests; do not shame me. 68 Have fear of Allah, and do not humiliate me." 69 They said: forbade we not thee against the worlds? 70 [Lot] said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]." 71 By thy life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement, 72 An explosion struck them at sunrise. 73 We turned the town upside-down and showered on them lumps of baked clay. 74 Behold! in this are Signs for those who by tokens do understand. 75 That town lies on a road which still exists. 76 surely in that is a sign for believers. 77 And the dwellers of the thicket also were most surely unjust. 78 So We chastised them. The desolate locations of both communities lie on a well-known highway. 79
