The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 shall call for destruction 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
