The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
