The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 And when the stars darken, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 that hide, 16 And the close of night, 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 So where are you going? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
