He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 To him you give attention. 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 and fears (Allah), 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 noble and purified. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 then the way eased for him, 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 his mother, his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 laughing, joyous; 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
