The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
