So when the apostles came to Lut's followers, 61 He said: verily ye are a people stranger. 62 They said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing, 63 and we are bringing thee the certainty [of its fulfilment]: for, behold, we are speaking the truth indeed. 64 Go, then, with thy household while it is yet night, with thyself following them in the rear; and let none of you look back, but proceed whither you are bidden." 65 And We decreed unto him this commandment because the last of those was to be cut off in the early morning. 66 Then came the people of the city, exulting at the news. 67 He said: Surely these are my guests, therefore do not disgrace me, 68 and fear God, and do not degrade me.' 69 They said, “Had we not forbidden you from meddling in the affairs of anyone?” 70 He said: Here are my daughters, if ye must be doing (so). 71 By thy life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement, 72 Then the mighty Blast caught them at sunrise, 73 And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay. 74 Surely in this are signs for those who examine. 75 This (city) lies on a road that still survives. 76 Lo! therein is indeed a portent for believers. 77 And the Companions of the Wood were also wrong-doers; 78 So We inflicted retribution on them, and they are both, indeed, on an open road (still) pursued. 79
