The dwellers in the wood (of Midian) denied the messengers (of Allah), 176 when their brother Shu'ayb said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 177 "I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 178 "So fear Allah and obey me. 179 And I ask of you no wage for it; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 180 ۞ "Maintain just measure in your business and do not cause loss to others. 181 Weigh your goods with proper balance 182 "And withhold not things justly due to men, nor do evil in the land, working mischief. 183 And fear He who created you and the former creation." 184 They said, 'Thou art merely one of those that are bewitched; 185 thou art naught but a mortal, like us; indeed, we think that thou art one of the liars. 186 But in case you are speaking the truth, then make a segment of the sky to fall upon us." 187 (Shu'aib) said: "My Lord knows well what you are doing." 188 Then they belied him; wherefore there laid hold of them the torment of day of shadow. Verily it was the torment of a Mighty Day. 189 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 190 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 191
