The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is folded up, 1 And when the stars fall down. 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 And when the Records of Account are laid bare. 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 where then are you going? 26 Verily, this (the Quran) is no less than a Reminder to (all) the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
