S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Sad [These letters (Sad etc.) are one of the miracles of the Quran and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. By the Quran full of reminding. 1 But nay - they who are bent on denying the truth are lost in [false] pride, and [hence] deeply in the wrong. 2 How many a generation We destroyed before them, and they cried out when it was no longer the time for escape! 3 And they (Arab pagans) wonder that a warner (Prophet Muhammad SAW) has come to them from among themselves! And the disbelievers say: "This (Prophet Muhammad SAW) is a sorcerer, a liar. 4 They say, "Has he condemned all other gods but One? This is certainly strange". 5 And their leading chiefs said: "Remain attached to your gods. There is surely some motive behind it. 6 We never heard of this in the former religion. It is nothing but an invention. 7 To him of all of us has the Reminder been sent down?" They are still in doubt about My admonition; but they have not tasted My punishment yet! 8 Or do they have the depositories of the mercy of your Lord, the Exalted in Might, the Bestower? 9 Have they control over heavens and earth and whatever [lies] between them? Then let them climb up to heaven by ropes: 10 (As they denied Allah's Message) they will be a defeated host like the confederates of the old times (who were defeated). 11 The people of Noah denied before them, and [the tribe of] 'Aad and Pharaoh, the owner of stakes, 12 And the tribe of Thamud, and the people of Lut, and the People of the Woods; these are the groups. 13 Not one (of them) but rejected the messengers, but My punishment came justly and inevitably (on them). 14
