And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They answered: We worship idols, and we remain ever devoted to them." 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 Said [Abraham]: "Have you, then, ever considered what it is that you have been worshipping 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 "And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again); 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 “My Lord, bestow me the command and join me with those who deserve your proximity.” 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 And forgive my father. Lo! he is of those who err. 86 “And do not disgrace me on the day when everyone will be raised.” 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 And the Fierce Fire shall be made apparent unto the seduced ones. 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 When we made you equal to the Lord of the worlds; 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 “Nor a caring friend.” 101 "'Now if we only had a chance of return we shall truly be of those who believe!'" 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
