He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 and in awe [of God] 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 We send down abundant water, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 And olive and palm trees 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
