The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun is covered, 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 by the night swarming, 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 Where then will you go? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
