'Lord, open my breast,' said Moses, 25 and make my task easy for me. 26 “And untie the knot of my tongue.” 27 so that they may understand my speech; 28 and appoint for me, out of my kinsfolk, one who will help me to bear my burden: 29 Let it be my brother Aaron 30 to support me. 31 and let him share my task, 32 That we may sing Your praises much, 33 “And profusely remember You.” 34 “Indeed You see us.” 35 God said, "You have been granted your request, Moses." 36 "And indeed We conferred a favour on you another time (before). 37 When We inspired to your mother what We inspired, 38 "Cast him into the ark, and cast him into the river, and let the river throw him up on the shore. An enemy of Mine and his shall take him." And I loaded on thee love from Me, and to be formed in My sight, 39 [And We favored you] when your sister went and said, 'Shall I direct you to someone who will be responsible for him?' So We restored you to your mother that she might be content and not grieve. And you killed someone, but We saved you from retaliation and tried you with a [severe] trial. And you remained [some] years among the people of Madyan. Then you came [here] at the decreed time, O Moses. 40 I chose you for Myself. 41 Go, thou and thy brother, with My tokens, and be not faint in remembrance of Me. 42 Go to Pharaoh, for he has become insolent. 43 Both of you must speak with him in a gentle manner so that perhaps he may come to himself or have fear (of God)." 44 They (Moses and Aaron) said: "Our Lord! We fear lest he hasten with insolence against us, or lest he transgress all bounds." 45 (The Lord) said: "Be not afraid. I am verily with you, and I hear and see. 46 So go ye unto him and say: Lo! we are two messengers of thy Lord. So let the children of Israel go with us, and torment them not. We bring thee a token from thy Lord. And peace will be for him who followeth right guidance. 47 Lo! it hath been revealed unto us that the doom will be for him who denieth and turneth away. 48 [Pharaoh] said, "So who is the Lord of you two, O Moses?" 49 He replied: "Our Sustainer is He who gives unto every thing [that exists] its true nature and form, and thereupon guides it [towards its fulfilment]. 50 [Pharaoh] said, "Then what is the case of the former generations?" 51 He replied: "The knowledge of that is with my Lord, duly recorded: my Lord never errs, nor forgets,- 52 Who hath appointed the earth as a bed and hath threaded roads for you therein and hath sent down water from the sky and thereby We have brought forth divers kinds of vegetation, 53 Eat, [then, of this produce of the soil,] and pasture your cattle [thereon]. In all this, behold, there are messages indeed for those who are endowed with reason: 54
