The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
