He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 to a rich man, 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 and fearfully, 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 On honourable pages. 13 Exalted, pure. 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 How We pour water in showers 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 and his consort and his children; 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
