The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 In shade long-extended, 30 Gushing water, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And carpets raised. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For those of the right hand. 38
