The 'Ad (people) rejected the messengers. 123 When their fellowman Hud said to them, “Do you not fear?” 124 I am a trustworthy messenger for you: 125 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 126 And I do not ask you any reward for it; surely my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds 127 "Do you build useless monuments on every mountain 128 and make for yourselves mighty castles, [hoping] that you might become immortal? 129 And whenever you apply force become tyrannical. 130 Rather keep your duty to Allah, and obey me. 131 “Fear Him Who has aided you with the things you know.” 132 He has bestowed on you cattle, and sons, 133 gardens and fountains. 134 “Indeed I fear upon you the punishment of a Great Day.” 135 They said, "Whether you preach to us or not, 136 "This is no other than a customary device of the ancients, 137 They rejected him and We destroyed them. 138 And they belied him; so We destroyed them. Verily herein is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 Verily your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 140
