۞ "Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped- 22 Other than Allah, and guide them to the path of Hellfire 23 And stop them, for they shall be questioned: 24 “What is the matter with you, that you do not help one another?” 25 They will submit to questioning then, 26 but [since it will be too late,] they will turn upon one another, demanding of each other [to relieve them of the burden of their past sins]. 27 They will say: verily ye! ye were wont to come unto us Imposing. 28 They will answer, “You yourselves did not have faith!” 29 "Nor had we any authority over you. Nay, it was ye who were a people in obstinate rebellion! 30 Now the Word of our Lord hath been fulfilled concerning us. Lo! we are about to taste (the doom). 31 We seduced you astray; verily we were ourselves the seduced ones. 32 On that day they will all share the torment. 33 that is how We deal with evil-doers. 34 for, behold, whenever they were told, "There is no deity save God," they would glory in their arrogance 35 and said: “Shall we forsake our deities for the sake of a distracted poet?” 36 Nay, but he brought the Truth, and he confirmed those sent (before him). 37 Verily, you (pagans of Makkah) are going to taste the painful torment; 38 Ye are requited naught save what ye did - 39 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 40 [in the hereafter,] theirs shall be a sustenance which they will recognize 41 Fruits; and they will be honoured. 42 In Gardens of Delight. 43 sitting face to face upon couches, 44 There will be circulated among them a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring, 45 white, sparkling (wine), a delight to the drinkers. 46 causing no headiness or intoxication. 47 And with them will be maidens (houris) who restrain their wide glances 48 As if they were (delicate) eggs closely guarded. 49 Then they will advance unto each other, mutually questioning. 50 Said one of the speakers: "I had a friend 51 who was wont to ask [me,] 'Why - art thou really one of those who believe it to be true 52 What! when we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then be certainly brought to judgment? 53 He will say: -- Do you wish to know where he is now?' 54 Then he will look and see him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He shall say: By Allah! you had almost caused me to perish; 56 And had it not been for the favor of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought up. 57 Then he will say [to his blessed companions], "Are we not going to die, 58 and that we would not be punished?" 59 Verily this is the supreme achievement! 60 For the like of this let all strive, who wish to strive. 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of AzZakkum! 62 Indeed, We have made it a torment for the wrongdoers. 63 Verily, it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-fire, 64 Its produce is as it were the heads of the serpents. 65 Then most surely they shall eat of it and fill (their) bellies with it. 66 Then on top of it they will have a brew of boiling water. 67 Then thereafter, verily, their return is to the flaming fire of Hell. 68 for, behold, they found their forebears on a wrong way, 69 So they in their footsteps are rushing. 70 And truly before them, many of the ancients went astray;- 71 And indeed We sent among them warners (Messengers); 72 Then see what was the end of those who were warned (but heeded not). 73 Except the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah. 74
