The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe to the stinters; 1 Those who, when they take by measure from mankind, exact the full, 2 but when they give by measurement or weight to others, they give them less. 3 Do they not realize that they will be resurrected 4 for a great Day, 5 the Day when all men shall stand before the Sustainer of all the worlds? 6 Indeed! The record of the wicked is in the Sijjin -- 7 And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is? 8 The record is a sealed text. 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 Who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 And none will deny it, except every transgressor, rebel. 12 When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore. 13 Nay, but their hearts are corroded by all [the evil] that they were wont to do! 14 Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. 15 Then lo! they verily will burn in hell, 16 whereafter they will be told: “This is what you used to give the lie to.” 17 Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. 18 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Illiyun is? 19 A written record, 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 The virtuous will live in bliss, 22 upon couches gazing; 23 You will find in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be given pure wine to drink, which is kept preserved, sealed. 25 which have the fragrance of musk. This is the kind of place for which one should really aspire. 26 And it is mixed with Tasneem. 27 A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. 28 Surely they who are guilty used to laugh at those who believe. 29 and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; 30 And when they returned to their household they returned jesting. 31 And when they saw them, they said: Most surely these are in error; 32 But they had not been sent as guardians over them. 33 But on this Day the believers will laugh at the unbelievers 34 On high thrones, watching. 35 Have those who deny the truth [not] been paid back for their deeds? 36
