And indeed We rescued the Descendants of Israel from a disgraceful torture. 30 From Firon; surely he was haughty, (and) one of the extravagant. 31 And We chose them (the Children of Israel) above the 'Alamin (mankind, and jinns) [during the time of Musa (Moses)] with knowledge, 32 and gave them such signs [of Our grace] as would clearly presage a test. 33 Indeed these people say: 34 "There is not but our first death, and we will not be resurrected. 35 Then bring [back] our forefathers, if you should be truthful." 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba' and those before them? We destroyed them, [for] indeed, they were criminals. 37 We did not idly create the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them; 38 We created them with definite purpose; but most of them do not understand. 39 The Day of Final Decision is the appointed time for all; 40 the Day when no friend shall be of the least avail to another, nor shall any be helped, 41 Save him on whom Allah hath mercy. Lo! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 42
