The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 You will become three categories: 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few of later ages, 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and spreading shade 30 and gushing water, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
