The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O you who covers himself [with a garment], 1 Rise up and warn! 2 Glorify your Lord, 3 and purify your robes, 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 and bestow not favour in order to seek from others a greater return, 6 And for the good-will of thy Lord be thou patient. 7 When the Horn is blown, 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 For the unbelievers, anything but easy. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 And gave him abundant wealth 12 and sons standing before him, 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 yet he is eager that I increase him. 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 Soon will I visit him with a mount of calamities! 17 He reflected, and then determined 18 And woe to him! How he plotted!- 19 Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 20 Then he beheld, 21 then he frowned and scowled, 22 then he retreated and waxed proud, 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 I will cast him into hell. 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It does not allow anyone to live, and neither does it leave anyone to die; 28 scorching the flesh; 29 and it has nineteen angelic keepers. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
