And to Samood (We sent) their brother Salih. He said: O my people! serve Allah, you have no god other than Him; clear proof indeed has come to you from your Lord; this is (as) Allah's she-camel for you-- a sign, therefore leave her alone to pasture on Allah's earth, and do not touch her with any harm, otherwise painful chastisement will overtake you. 73 Remember, how you were made leaders after the people of 'Ad, and were settled on the land so that you could construct on the plains palaces, and carve dwellings out of mountains. So think of the favours of God, and do not act with corruption in the land." 74 The haughty elders of his people said to those believers who had been oppressed: 'Do you know that Salih is one sent forth with a message from his Lord?' They, replied: 'Surely we believe in the message with which he has been sent.' 75 Those who were scornful said: Lo! in that which ye believe we are disbelievers. 76 So they slew the she-camel and revolted against their Lord's commandment, and they said: O Salih! bring us what you threatened us with, if you are one of the apostles. 77 So the earthquake seized them, and morning found them prostrate in their dwelling-place. 78 He left them, saying, "My people, I delivered my Lord's messages to you and counselled you sincerely, but you do not like sincere advisors." 79 We sent Lot, who said to his people, "How can you commit an abomination such as no one in the world has ever done before you? 80 Lo! ye come with lust unto men instead of women. Nay, but ye are wanton folk. 81 And the answer of his people was only that they said (one to another): Turn them out of your township. They are folk, forsooth, who keep pure. 82 Then We delivered Lot and his household save his wife who stayed behind, 83 We sent a torrential rain unto the (unbelievers). Consider how disastrous the end of the criminals was! 84
