50 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah) before Q (Qaaf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the emissary winds, sent one after another (for men's benefit), 1 by (the angels) as swift as blowing winds, 2 by the scatterers scattering 3 And those that distinguish distinctly, 4 and those hurling a reminder 5 to serve as an excuse or a warning. 6 Surely what you are promised shall come to pass. 7 When the stars are obliterated, 8 when heaven shall be split 9 And when the mountains are made into dust and blown away. 10 And when the Messengers are gathered to their time appointed; 11 For what day is that time fixed? 12 Upon the Day of Decision! 13 What will explain to you what the Day of Judgement is? 14 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 15 Did We not destroy the former peoples? 16 and then follow them with the later folk? 17 As such shall We deal with the sinners. 18 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 19 Did We not create you from a liquid disdained? 20 which We placed within a sure lodging 21 Till an appointed term, 22 And We determined [it], and excellent [are We] to determine. 23 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 24 Have We not caused the earth to hold within itself 25 the living and the dead? 26 And We placed therein lofty, firmly set mountains and have given you to drink sweet water. 27 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 28 Proceed now towards that which you were wont to deny as false; 29 "Depart ye to a Shadow (of smoke ascending) in three columns, 30 that will offer no [cooling] shade and will be of no avail against the flame 31 and throwing up sparks as huge as towers 32 As if they were yellowish [black] camels. 33 On that day, woe would be upon those who have rejected God's revelations! 34 This is the Day they shall not speak, 35 And permission shall not be given to them so that they should offer excuses. 36 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 37 Such is the Day of Decision. We will gather you with the ancients. 38 So if you have any plot to devise against Me, then devise it. 39 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 40
