The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
