The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
