We created man from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape; 26 and the jinn created We before of fire flaming. 27 And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "I will create a human being out of clay from an altered black mud. 28 "So, when I have fashioned him completely and breathed into him (Adam) the soul which I created for him, then fall (you) down prostrating yourselves unto him." 29 then the angels all prostrated themselves together. 30 But Iblis did not; he refused to be with the prostrates. 31 (Allah) said: "O Iblis! what is your reason for not being among those who prostrated themselves?" 32 He replied, "I am not one to prostrate myself to a man whom You have created out of a clay of moulded mud." 33 "Go hence, execrable," (said the Lord), "from this place, 34 and there shall be a curse upon you till the Day of Recompense." 35 (Iblis) said: "O my Lord! give me then respite till the Day the (dead) are raised." 36 He said: So surely you are of the respited ones 37 till the Day the time whereof is known [to Me alone]." 38 He said, "My Lord, since You have let me go astray. I shall make the path of error seem alluring to them on the earth and shall mislead them all, 39 But not such of them as are Thy bondmen single-hearted. 40 Allah said: "Here is the path that leads straight to Me. 41 Indeed, My servants - no authority will you have over them, except those who follow you of the deviators. 42 Surely, Hell is the place to which they are destined, 43 it has seven gates: and each gate has a portion of them allotted to it. 44
