And when the envoys came to the family of Lot, 61 He said, "Indeed, you are people unknown." 62 They said: "Nay, we have come to you with that (torment) which they have been doubting. 63 and we have come to you with the truth, and surely we are truthful, 64 So set out with your family during a portion of the night and follow behind them and let not anyone among you look back and continue on to where you are commanded." 65 We issued this command to him, for they were going to be destroyed in the morning. 66 And the people of the city came, rejoicing at the news (of new arrivals). 67 and he told them, "These are my guests, so do not disgrace me. 68 And keep your duty to Allah, and shame me not! 69 They replied: "Did we not forbid you again and again to extend hospitality to all and sundry?" 70 He said, “These women of our tribe are my daughters, if you have to.” 71 [But the angels spoke thus:] "As thou livest, [O Lot, they will not listen to thee:] behold, in their delirium [of lust] they are but blindly stumbling to and fro!" 72 But the (mighty) Blast overtook them before morning, 73 and We turned it uppermost nethermost and rained on it stones of baked clay. 74 Herein are really signs for those who discern. 75 And indeed that township is upon a road still in use. 76 Verily in that is a sign for the believers. 77 And the companions of the thicket were [also] wrongdoers. 78 We afflicted them with punishment. Both people had clear (divine) authority among them. 79
