Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 In the high empyrean, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 raised couches, 13 and goblets set forth 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
